DM_lunsford asked me why I wrote a story about three people who shared a gravestone. The following photos come from a cemetery near the cottage that I spent my summers at as a kid.

This is the Anglican church in Shanty Bay. I'd say more about it, but I also took a picture of the sign, so I'll just let you read it. for yourself.

One of my best friends is Edward O'Brien's great-great-great-granddaughter. Her mother's name is Ardagh.

This is the "old" corner of the cemetery. Most of the families back here are the town founders and almost all of them have inter-married.

And here are Esther and Loring and Mary. I changed Loring to Lily in my story, because Loring is an O'Brien family name. (The stone directly behind is Edward and his wife Sophia's, and the grey one behind that is their son, his wife, their children and my friend's grandparents.)

Here is Esther, who died when she was 4 years and 7 months old.

And her sisters, Loring and Mary, who died two weeks apart aged 1 year, 3 months and 7 years.

I had to feel this with my fingers, but it does give their parents' names: William and Elizabeth Loring O'Brien. William was the son of Edward and Sophia. And apparently everyone was named Elizabeth, because his brother Henry also married a woman with that name.

Here is William and Elizabeth's stone. You can see Edward and Sophia behind them again.

The last thing I have to note is that there are at least two stone plates right on the ground that say simply "Baby", in the vicinity of the William and Elizabeth stone. Which means that they buried FIVE CHILDREN in that cemetery before they took up residence themselves.
